Currency & Credit Cards
The Namibian Dollar (Na$) and the South African Rand (ZAR) are both accepted in Namibia. Foreign currency and travelers’ cheques can be exchanged at all banks and Bureau de Change.
MasterCard and Visa are accepted throughout the country, except in rural areas and at petrol stations, where only cash will be accepted. Never let the credit cards out of your sight!
When to travel
The winter months (April to October) are the preferred travel time, since that is the dry season and day time temperatures are very pleasant.
Nevertheless, the rest of the year also has much to offer. BOLENG will gladly advise you!
For Europeans a Visa is usually not necessary. The passport must be shown and at least three unused pages are required for stamps. It must be valid for at least 6 months after departure date. Confirm the latest requirements with your travel agency.
What not to forget
- Clothing for warm and cold days, no matter when you travel
- Hat, sunglasses and sunscreen
- Malaria medication (please be advised by your GP)
